Today it serves as offices for small businesses like lawyers or accountants.

The interior of the building has not been changed and is a great example of how people saved money in 1930 by using natural light rather than electricity. It’s one of only three buildings that are still connected to their original sky lights, which we call “skylights.” The other two being First National Bank (also known as Security State Bank) and Cain’s Ballroom.

The World’s Littlest Skyscraper is open for tours Monday-Friday from 0830 to 1730. There are free guided group tours on the hour, which last about 45 minutes with a presentation of Wichita Falls history in each room.

The Kell House Museum is the oldest house in Wichita Falls and was built in 1878 by John Thomas Kell. The family moved to this location from Tennessee, because there were several other people with the last name of “Kell” living nearby.

It’s a two-story wood frame home on Courthouse Square (it was at the corner of Seventh Street and Grant Avenue before moving to its present location). It was a single family home until about 1940, when it became the official museum for Wichita Falls. The house is open for tours Monday-Friday from 0830 to 1730 with group tours available on the hour or by appointment.
